Our latest development expands Eureca's spectrometer portfolio: a microspectrometer module based on one of our PRO line scan cameras, optimized for compact design and easy integration. Inside, the system uses a high-quality embossed grating that enables reliable and precise spectral analysis.
Modules with one channel are available under the designation e9u-SPMD-350/850-10, and models with two channels are available as e9u-SPMD-350/850-10-DUO.
The microspectrometer is particularly suitable for analyzing broadband spectra. Typical areas of application are:
A particular advantage of our microspectrometers is their open and flexible control. Since the devices are based on our proven USB camera platform, they can be operated directly with all existing EasyScripts under Python. This eliminates the need for proprietary software solutions, which are common with many other microspectrometer providers. Users have full access to the raw data and can develop their own measurement and evaluation routines. This approach is particularly valuable in teaching, as students can not only interpret measurement results, but also understand and design the entire process of data acquisition and processing themselves.
The embossed grating used in the microspectrometer is supplied by Insion GmbH, a renowned manufacturer of miniaturized spectrometer components based in Germany. Insion specializes in high-precision replication processes that emboss grating structures directly into optical substrates. This technology enables compact, mechanically stable, and optically highly efficient gratings that are ideal for use in robust, low-maintenance spectrometer systems. Thanks to their high manufacturing quality and low sensitivity to environmental influences, Insion embossed gratings contribute significantly to the long-term stability and reliability of our microspectrometers.
For special applications, we offer a version of the microspectrometer that integrates two embossed gratings on one sensor. This allows a measurement spectrum and a reference spectrum to be recorded simultaneously—without the need for a second device. This design reduces systematic errors, saves space, and greatly simplifies the measurement setup. In practice, this configuration is suitable, for example, for continuously monitoring the light intensity of a source during a measurement or for compensating for fluctuations caused by changes in the light source or environmental conditions. This solution also offers a clear advantage in industrial processes where both the actual signal and a stable reference must be recorded in parallel.
Eureca also offers microspectrometers in customized designs for OEM projects, tailored precisely to the respective application. Thanks to our many years of expertise in optoelectronics, we develop systems that precisely meet your technical requirements. Possible customizations include fiber optics in various lengths, with different connectors or special sheathing, single- or dual-channel versions, and customer-specific electronics that fit into specified space constraints. The interface design can also be customized as desired—for example, USB, UART, or direct parallel control and data lines for connection to microcontrollers. This gives you a microspectrometer that can be optimally integrated into your system.
Initial prototypes of various versions are already available. Later this year, the USB version of the microspectrometer will also be available directly from our online shop in a small housing as a standalone laboratory tool for researchers, developers, and educational institutions.

Our microspectrometer evaluation kits offer a compact and robust introduction to spectroscopy. At the heart of the kits is our microspectrometer module, built into a sturdy ABS housing (11 × 11 × 6 cm).
The housing is designed for practical use: both the USB cable (approx. 130 cm long) for connection to a PC and the flexible, sheathed optical fiber (approx. 30 cm long) are routed to the outside through specially manufactured cable glands. This creates a protected, handy system that is ideal for test measurements and evaluations.
Commissioning is extremely simple: in addition to our proven line scan camera GUI, a freely available Python script based on our Easy scripts is also provided. This allows users to immediately start measurements, record data, and perform initial spectral analyses—without time-consuming setup or complex hardware adjustments.
These evaluation kits are the perfect solution for quick tests, training, or evaluating the microspectrometer module in your own applications. The e9u-SPMD-350/850-10-EVAL version with one channel and the e9u-SPMD-350/850-10-EVAL-DUO version with two channels are available.
