These high-resolution lenses for linescan and area sensors of the Apo-Rodagon-HR series were developed to close the gap – in terms of price and performance – between the high-resolution lenses of the inspec.x L series and the Apo Rodagon D series.
The fixed aperture means that there are no moving parts and the robust mechanics of the lens make it suitable for even the harshest industrial environments. Due to the high resolution of 80 Lp/mm on the sensor side and the image circle of 62 mm, the lens is particularly suitable for the widely used 12 k/5 µm sensors.

This series with an excellent price-performance ratio was developed for mounting industrial lenses on F-mount cameras. The new and very robust mechanism without moving parts now makes it possible for the first time to connect magnifying lenses from the traditional Rodenstock era with focal lengths between 40 and 60 mm to the F-mount.
The lenses are available with fixed apertures in various focal lengths, which prevents the risk of accidental or creeping aperture adjustments due to vibration. The 44 mm image circle of the lenses is sufficient for the 35 mm format and the popular line sensors with a length of 41 mm.

For decades, Rodagon lenses have been used successfully in a wide variety of applications in image processing. With the new Rodagon M42 series, Qioptiq is setting new standards in terms of price-performance ratio.
The lenses with focal lengths of 40, 50 and 60 mm have an integrated manual focus that can be precisely adjusted and fixed twice with a counter ring and clamping screws. Even strong vibrations cannot change the focus once it has been set. The flange focal length of the M42 mount is specially tailored to cameras from the UNIIQA, Linea or Racer series in order to cover the typical image scales in the machine vision area. The fixed aperture of the lenses emphasizes the focus on easy handling and robust design. The result is a robust camera and lens system with no moving parts and an excellent price-performance ratio.

Their high resolution makes the Apo-Rodagon-D lenses the ideal solution for cameras with a resolution of up to 7 µm pixel size. Matched to a magnification range of 1:2 to 2:1, these lenses are also characterized by minimal distortion and color errors.
The lenses consist of 6 lens elements, are apochromatically corrected and achieve outstanding contrast and excellent sharpness right into the corners of the image, practically without any color fringing. Due to the distortion almost at zero, this is not noticeable even with demanding objects with straight structures.
The optimal aperture of a lens with an image scale of 1:1 is approximately two aperture steps smaller than the nominal aperture, which for the Apo-Rodagon D is between f/5.6 and f/8. It is important to know this lens behavior, because stopping down the lens further than the nominal f-stop f/8 would produce a visible blurring due to diffraction.
The standard models have a rasterized iris diaphragm while the metal version has a continuously adjustable iris diaphragm with clamping screws.

The Rodagon high-performance lens is characterized by extremely consistent image quality and large scale ranges.
The Rodagon-WA is a high-performance lens with an extended angle of view and thus a larger image circle.
