To the product series

This lightweight industrial lens with E-mount for use with drones offers outstanding optical quality in a compact and rugged aluminum housing. The extremely fast, fixed-focal-length lens with E-Mount (for Sony cameras) was primarily developed for use with drones, so it had to be as small and light as possible. Despite the little weight and size this lens yet still offers outstanding image quality. The great reduction in weight allows drones to fly longer, resulting in greater efficiency.

The lens is compatible with large area-scan and line-scan sensors with an image circle of up to 43 mm and a pixel size starting at 2.8 µm. Aperture adjustment on the lens is possible by 1/3 f-stops from F2.8 to F22. Aperture ring locking and torque are designed to prevent accidental adjustment due to vibration or the drone moving through the air.

This lens offers unsurpassed data quality for applications such as mapping, three-dimensional modeling, inspection, surveying or monitoring project progress from the air. As drones are important tools in modern surveillance applications and will become more common in the future, this lens is a great addition.

The high-quality aluminum housing, which is extremely rugged and both dust and weather-resistant (IP64) is designed to prevent the ingress of even ultra-fine dust and is also resistant to rain or splash water on all sides. This makes the lens ideal for outdoor use even in extreme environmental conditions with fine sand, extreme temperatures, high humidity – and even rain is no problem for the wide-angle lens. The lack of electronic communication between camera and lens saves weight and energy, allowing longer inspection flights.

A large depth of field is produced by the fixed focus close to the hyperfocal distance. This allows drones to fly at different heights without worrying about focus adjustment and simplifies downstream data processing. To inspect closer objects in detail it is possible to precisely adjust the depth of field by adjusting the aperture setting. Nevertheless, the focus of the image processing system remains unchanged. In the case of drones, this ensures that the stabilizer balances the drone consistently.

The lens also provides reliable data in stationary applications such as the large-scale monitoring of events, power plants, open-cast mining, landfills or construction sites.

The ZEISS Ventum 2.8/21 stands out as an extreme wide-angle lens with exceptional optical imaging correction. It offers unmatched levels of contrast, resolution, and color fidelity across the entire imaging area saving time and computing power during post-processing and also provides more accurate data when calculating 3D models.

The special ZEISS T* coating covers every surface of the optical elements in this lens, preventing reflections and guaranteeing excellent image quality even in difficult lighting conditions.
