The all-metal housing with dynamic, precise tube design of the ZEISS Otus models impresses visually, haptically and with its inner values. Special seals to protect against dust and splashes guarantee the functional reliability of the system even in difficult environmental situations.
The aspheric lens design ensures consistent imaging performance across the entire focusing range and sharpness to the periphery of the image. The asphere's more complex surface profile can reduce or eliminate spherical aberration and also reduce other optical aberrations compared to a simple lens.
The optical elements of the ZEISS lenses have a T* anti-reflective coating on all surfaces and an optical design that guarantees images of outstanding brilliance at all times, even in unfavorable lighting conditions. The first coating processes were used by ZEISS as early as the 1930s.
Dramatic perspectives and the view from extraordinary image angles – ZEISS lenses open up new composition possibilities. Distortions disturb the composition of the image, since straight lines that are not reproduced in the center of the image are rendered curved. This annoying effect is largely compensated at all focal lengths by appropriate and complex optical constructions.
Aberrations caused by extreme differences between shadows and highlights are particularly evident in night shots. This is where the outstanding lateral chromatic aberration correction can help.
